Bunk Beds are ideal for Sleepovers
Looking for a sleepover solution? We're not all lucky enough to have a spare bedroom or space for a sofa bed. Even if you don't need the spare bunk all the time, it can be super handy for sleepovers. And if you're wondering what to do with the spare bunk on a day-to-day basis, you can always throw some cushions & blankets on it to make a cosy little under-bed sofa! This is a great way of giving your children the luxury of their own space to sit & relax (besides their bed) without taking up loads of space in a small bedroom. This also comes in handy as kids get older, as it becomes a lovely space to read, study or watch tv.
Bunk Beds are ideal for many sizes of rooms
You don't need to worry too much about ceiling height either, as many of our bunk beds are a suitable height for children 6 years and above and suit most average ceiling heights. But it's always important to measure up and check the dimensions before you buy.
What sizes are bunk beds available in?
Bunk beds come in many different styles and sizes, depending on how much space you have available in your room. If you have a small room, you can get a twin or full-sized bed. If you have lots of space, there are usually more options to choose from - like a queen size or king-size bed.
The majority of our bunk beds have a footprint of our standard single bed. We do a bunk that has a double bed at the base should you need to sleep three. If this is the case we also have a triple bunk bed in which every single bed is stacked on top of each other.
Bunk beds are usually 39 inches (99cm) wide, 79 inches (200cm) long, and 65 inches (165cm) high. Before you purchase one, make sure you measure the room or space they will fit in and note there's a 24 inch (61cm) space between the top bunk's railing and ceiling.
Apart from bunk beds, there are also other options that allow you to save a lot of space in your child's or guest room, through the use of loft beds for instance
How much clearance do you need for a bunk bed?
A bunk bed requires clearance of at least 190 cm from all walls. The upper bunk must have clearance of at least 220 cm from the wall on all sides. The lower bunk can be placed as close to the wall as needed, but still needs to be clear of surrounding objects (such as furniture) in case a person needs to get out quickly in an emergency.
The ceiling height should be 6 meters or lower for bunk beds to be installed. You can still make it work if your ceiling is taller than that.
Customisable bunk beds.
Need flexibility with the design? Some of our bunk beds have the option to place the ladder on either the right or left-hand side of the bed to suit your bedroom layout. And once you've finished with the bunk formation, some are even detachable, meaning you can split them into two single beds and save yourself from shopping around for something brand new.
Don't forget the mattresses! Our range of Mattresses & Mattress Protectors include various fabrics, fillings and levels of support. Be sure to double-check the required mattress size in the bed description, as some may vary.
For safety reasons, the top bunk of any Bunk Bed may require a slightly thinner mattress to ensure there is enough space between the sleeping position and the top of the safety guard - please bear this in mind when shopping.
For all the fun of the top bunk, but without the spare bunk underneath, take a look at our High Sleepers & Mid Sleepers. These beds are also a fab space-saving solution as you can use the space underneath for other furniture such as drawers, desks or even wardrobes.
What age are bunk beds suitable for?
It is recommended that children 6 years and older should only use the top bunk, however, the bottom bunk can be used as soon as you feel your child is ready to sleep in a single bed.

Can bunk beds hold adults?
Yes, they can. As our bunk beds are made from solid wood, they are able to support the weight of an adult, so they too can join in the fun.

There are a few different types of bunk beds that you can choose from. The most common are standard bunk beds, which have two beds - one on top of the other. Triple sleeper bunk beds are also popular and have three beds - two on top and one below. This is a great option for kids rooms, as it allows for multiple children to sleep in the same room or for guests.
There are two types of bunk beds:
- The regular bunk bed has two sets of bunk beds, which means two sets of mattresses and two height platforms.
- The double bunk bed has two sets of bunk beds which are each single in size.
